416-4943: Engine Piston Ring

An Engine Piston Ring is a wear ring that rides on the inside surface of the cylinder assembly to prevent damage and scoring of the piston or cylinder assembly. The piston on which these piston rings are mounted have machined grooves for accommodating these rings. These rings along with seals prevent pressurized oil and gasses from passing from one volume to the other in the engine cylinder. Attributes: • Resistance to breakage and deformation under the application of high compression forces in the engine • Designed to withstand high and repeated working loads and forces • Resistance to change in properties when used in extreme working temperatures in the engine Applications: This Engine Piston Ring is used in engines to prevent pressurized oil and expanding gases from passing from the combustion chamber in the cylinder to the crankshaft.
